on innocence
Innocence is the power of children to experience the world through wide open eyes, sharpen senses and enormous curiosity. A society that does not respect this right of every child is simply a failing society.
Do children have superpowers? Are children holy beings? (...) And if this is so, what happens when we grow up? Is the secret ingredient fading out our lost innocence?
“Every act of rebellion expresses a nostalgia for innocence and an appeal to the essence of being.”
― Albert Camus, The Rebel
